One of the things that shocked me after moving to the United States was the cost of the Internet. In Poland, unlimited high-speed Internet on mobile phones and at home is much more affordable than in the United Sates.
Internet Access in Poland
We know that even on a great vacation, it’s difficult to completely disconnect from the Internet. Travelers enjoying sharing their photos and staying in touch with loved ones back home. It can be confusing to set up your phone and Internet plans before leaving home, so we have some information that may help you out.
Finding WiFi in Poland
At almost every hotel, restaurant, museum or even shopping malls, there is free WiFi available for guest use. If the WiFi requires a password, you just need to ask a staff member. In major cities, you can also find free WiFi access in public parks or even city wide. If you find yourself in an emergency situation, find the closest university, library, restaurant or cafe, which are the most reliable places for Internet access.
On our tours, you will have access to the Internet in the car as well as at all of your accommodation. Sometimes, especially on customized tours to remote places in Poland, the Internet may be very limited. Some places even choose to not offer WiFi so that their guests can connect with nature, enjoy peace and quiet and interact with others.
Mobile Internet for Tourists in Poland
Since 2017, it is required in Poland to register every phone number you purchase. The means that you need to provide your name, Identification Number and home address. This can make it very difficult or impossible for travelers to get a Polish SIM card. As mentioned before, on our tours we make it easy for you to connect if you need to, as well as disconnect if that’s what you desire. Our guides always have handy access to the Internet and will help you solve any problems you may have.

Cellular Data on Your Phone
When you use your mobile phone outside of the United States, you will incur extremely high roaming fees. If you choose to use your own phone while traveling abroad, make sure to contact your phone provider prior to traveling to set up the plan that works the best for you. Explain to the company what you would like to use your phone for (Internet data, text message or phone calls) and which countries you will be traveling to. Also, be sure to arrange when to activate and deactivate the service to avoid extra costs.
